MY EDUCATION: LEARNING AND OPENING NEW ROADS

SPECIAL EDUCATION PRE-K (3-5 YEARS OLD)

Deirdre started Pre-K when she turned 3 years old in 2010. Services in the home (teacher and therapists) began formally in January 2011. So far Deirdre receives five days of home instruction for two hours daily.

 

Deirdre loves her teacher, Mr. Farina, and learned a lot. Among her favorite activities include planting green beans (complete with earthworms), learning about bees, making an aquarium, and creating many crafts that shine with glitter and sequins.

We are in discussions to begin the Fall session trying tele-conference with a classroom at school... Meanwhile, the schooling sessions continue at home.

 

 

EDUCATION ALTERNATIVES

We are exploring other education options for Deedee's future, among them:

K12: ONLINE SCHOOL

K12 has public and private schools that participate in its program around the world. It is a school on the internet, very convenient to study "your way".

We would consider this school for Deedee in the future if the tele-conference is not successful.

 

SPEECH & COMMUNICATION DEVELOPMENT

"HOOKED ON PHONICS"

It offers basic video that are very appealing to children.

Deedee has several videos of these and enjoy them very much. They have different editions for different ages.

 

 

 

BECKMAN ORAL MOTOR THERAPY

Special attention to exercise the muscles of the mouth and face. Leads to improvements in facial movement and speech.

Deedee practice this therapy daily.
